The fixture resembles a glass disc hovering just below the ceiling. This impression is primarily created by the illuminated opening. The diffuser provides soft uniform lighting. This fixture gives the room the illusion of extra height. Arne Jacobsen designed the Munkegård fixture for Munkegårdsskolen in Søborg, Denmark in 1955. This recessed fixture illuminated the ceiling and evened out light contrasts. The fixture also had a discreet presence in the room, making it fully in line with Arne Jacobsens architectural approach.
